Network Introduction and Conclusion

The network topology shown is a bus network which is a network in which all nodes are connected to a single wire (the bus) that has two endpoints. The network comprises of thirty computers and is set up in Field-view 2 classroom. It required 1000 feet of Ethernet cable and the total cost for the implementation of this network is approximately $ 91,000 inclusive of the switch, Ethernet cable, RJ45 connector ends, modem and external router. The bus network is suitable for this location as it is relatively easy to implement and extend, cost effective and easy to maintain as cable faults are easily identified.

In conclusion, the bus topology is suitable for both the size and geometric shape of the classroom. Nodes can always be added to the network and maintenance is easy. However, in the future, problems such as performance degradation due to shared bandwidth as additional computers are added could arise.
